The Mahim police have detained three teenagers, aged between 15 and 17, for the murder of 15-year-old Sunny Saroj of Guru Nanak School on TH Katariya Marg on Wednesday evening.
The detained teenagers are not from Saroj’s school but knew him for some time. According to a source, the sister of one of them was Saroj’s close friend and studies in the same school.
It is suspected that the detained youngster did not like Saroj talking to his sister. He had warned Saroj to keep away from her, but the slain boy did not pay heed.
A police officer said, “Prima facie, it appears that the youngster knew when Saroj would be present at the spot. They were carrying sharp weapons, meaning they had come to attack him.” Eye witnesses will be asked to identify the detained teenagers.
