Twelve people, including a child, were killed in three separate accidents in Nashik district on Wednesday.

According to the Ghoti police, a mud-laden truck plying from Ghoti to Sinnar rammed into a school building in Dhamangaon village near Ghoti in Nashik district on Wednesday afternoon. The truck drove right into a classroom, killing one student and injuring nearly 20 people.

The sudden accident evoked angry sentiments from the villagers as nearly 3,000 people showed up to block the highway, causing chaos. Allegedly, the villagers had been demanding that the school be shifted away from the highway for a long time. A case has been filed against the driver of the truck who is absconding.In another accident, 10 people were killed and four injured on the highway near Malegaon after a vehicle carrying a wedding party from Morshi near Amravati rammed into a cement truck at 4am on Wednesday.

In yet another accident near Veergaon on Satana Taharabad road, a rickshaw driver died on the spot after his vehicle rammed into a Scorpio car.
