Appearing for the association, advocate AM Kulkarni informed the division bench of chief justice Mohit Shah and justice MS Sanklecha about the withdrawal of the call for strike, while it was hearing a petition filed by Society for Awareness of Civil Rights, an NGO.

The association had called for strike, among other things, after the Food and Drug Administration came out with a directive whereby patients would have to get a new prescription every time they visited a chemist shop to purchase regularly used medicines needed for lifetime diseases like asthma, diabetes and arthritis).

The bench took on record that a state-appointed committee formed early this year to redress the association’s grievances would hold a meeting on December 19, in Nagpur. This committee was formed by a government resolution issued on July 3, but it met only once, on July 12.
