In two separate incidents in the city, cranes collapsed on Saturday, but without any damage to persons. In the first incident, a small crane fell on a one storey structure at Mahim-Sion Link road after the crane operator lost control of the vehicle. However, there were no causalities, though two motorbikes, a car parked in the vicinity, and the hotel building suffered damage.

In another incident on the same day in Jogeshwari, a crane lost its balance during expansion work at the Harbour railway line. However, it did not cause any damage.

According to Shahu Nagar police, the first incident took place on Saturday around 12 pm when the driver lost control of the crane due to a break failure. The crane was meant to be used for the demolition of a hotel. Soon after the incident, the driver of the crane fled the spot fearing outrage of the public. Locals immediately informed the police and lodged a complaint.

"We have arrested the driver of the crane, Sandeep Chauhan(22), and have booked him under sections of the Indian Penal Code(IPC) for negligent driving, driving without a license, causing damage to property," said DB Thorat, Police Inspector of Shahu Nagar Police Station.
