Thane man, girlfriend sentenced to life for murder
A STD booth owner and his girlfriend were today sentenced to life imprisonment by a court here for murdering his eight-month pregnant wife in 2006.
A STD booth owner and his girlfriend were today sentenced to life imprisonment by a court here for murdering his eight-month pregnant wife in 2006.Mehaboob Hussain Shaikh, 35, and his girlfriend Ashrafbanoo Mohiddin Bekal, 37, both residents of Mumbra here, were convicted by Sessions Judge KK Sonawane.Shaikh and Bekal, a housewife, were in a relationship since the last seven years.
The duo wanted to get rid of Shaikh's wife whom they considered a hindrance in their relationship, Prosecution Counsel Ruma Navale said. The two hatched a plan and strangled the 28-year-old woman on December 2, 2006, Navale added.
