Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan today said security agencies in the state have been put on alert in the wake of intelligence inputs about four alleged terrorists sneaking into Mumbai.
He said the state government had received some inputs from the central intelligence agencies regarding the alleged members of Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit who are believed to be in Mumbai to carry out "violent" attacks.
"The state police and intelligence agencies are alert and all security arrangements are in place ahead of the festive season," Chavan told reporters here.
The state police, Mumbai police and the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) are investigating the leads and inputs received from the central intelligence agenices, he said.
On Tuesday, the Centre had sounded a terror alert for Mumbai and Ahmedabad following specific intelligence inputs that the LeT teams may have entered the two western cities to carry out strikes.
