According to the police, the youths gathered near Gareeb Nawaz Nagar on Friday night and hurled 6-7 molotov cocktails near the shop of one Kadar Ali Shaikh. Two people, including a 12-year-old child, sustained minor burn injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital.

Senior police inspector Vasant Patil said, "We were informed by the locals that some youngsters had gathered in lane no 9 with bottles having inflammable liquid, which we believe to be kerosene or petrol. We immediately registered an FIR and launched an investigation into the case."

The minor accused was arrested in the early hours of Saturday. "During the course of investigation, we got certain leads, after which the accused was arrested," said Patil. He added, "The accused got hold of small empty glass bottles of alcohol from some wine shop and filled them with petrol. This way he made the molotov cocktails used in the crime."

The Antop Hill police are trying to ascertain the motive behind the attack. Prima facie, it appears the youths thought it would be fun.
