A 42-year-old teacher was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly molesting a nine-year-old neighbour when she was at his house playing with his daughter. The accused has been identified as Chanchal Kumar Rai, a teacher and owner of several English-speaking classes in Mira-Bhayander and Vasai-Virar. A police officer said, “Rai touched the girl inappropriately.”
Senior inspector of Kanakia police station said, “We arrested Rai under section 354 (molestation) and under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. He has been remanded to police custody till October 4.”
