TMC has one centre – Tata Memorial hospital – in Parel. The Advanced Center for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) is based in Navi Mumbai. People from all across the country come to the Tata hospital for treatment. In the last few months, ACTREC also has started offering treatment to cancer patients. The same set of doctors travels to this centre, which has a capacity for 111 beds. The centre is planning to double the capacity within two years.

Recently, ACTREC set up a digital mammography machine donated by one of the well-wishers, improving the management of breast cancer patients. Mammograms can help detect breast cancer in its earliest, most treatable stage. Research on breast cancer at ACTREC is focused on developing novel therapeutic modalities.

"This is a great news for people who come all the way from Navi Mumbai, Raigad and other places to get treatment for cancer. Instead of coming to Mumbai, they can take treatment at this centre inKharghar. All blood cancer-related treatment will move to Kharghar within the next two years. Apart from that, a paediatric cancer department will also be set up in the campus. The OPD will be in Parel but major treatments will be offered in Navi Mumbai-based campus only. It is a long process and will take some time," said TMH director Dr Rajan Badwe.
