Kinnar Maa Ek Samajik Sanstha Trust, a body that works for the welfare of transgender people, held a press conference after their meeting with the commissioner of police a week ago
A transgender body on Thursday demanded that the police act against fake eunuchs in the city. Among the other demands was that a Kinnar Ashram for women be constructed by the government.
Kinnar Maa Ek Samajik Sanstha Trust (KMESST), a body that works for the welfare of transgender people, held a press conference after their meeting with the commissioner of police a week ago.
"There have been 16 non-cognisable offences registered by us against a group of goondas who wear clothes like eunuchs and harass us and people. We want the police to take action against them and sensitise the police force about us," said Priya Patil, programme manager of KMESST.
"Our complaints are being taken but there is no action on them. We want that police be sensitised so that they can differentiate between a real and fake eunuch," added Patil who had also contested for the civic elections.
