The anti-corruption branch of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), on Saturday, arrested Deepak Kumar, branch manager of State Bank of Hyderabad in Chopada, Jalgaon district, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 for releasing an instalment of Rs 3 lakh of a sanctioned housing loan. The CBI has not identified the complainant.

Acting on a tip off, the CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while accepting the bribe money. Kumar was immediately arrested and produced before the special CBI judge in Jalgaon, who remanded him in police custody till Tuesday.

CBI officials also seized incriminating documents relating to investment made by the accused from his house. "Gold and silver jewellery, coins and cash disproportionate to Kumar's known sources of income were also seized. Further investigation is on," said CBI sources.
