Thane murders: 'Spooky' house haunts neighbours

The bungalow where the killing of 14 members of a family took place on Sunday now stands sealed by the Thane police department. However, if locals are to be believed, the house has turned spooky for them with foul stench of blood continuously emitting from the house.

Residents of the area are afraid as kids are falling sick due to such environment and people have stopped stepping out of the house after 10pm. Hasnain Warekar (35) went on a rampage, killing 14 members of his family. The youngest of the siblings, Subiya, managed to survive the attack and alerted the neighbours.

"The house was regularly visited by maulanas. We never heard of any fights or quarrel from the house despite staying in close proximity. But on the fateful night, we somehow managed to rescue Subiya — the lone survivor of the incident," said a neighbour.

Terming the house spooky and haunted, another neighbour said: "Earlier, we used to sit in our verandah to chat and work. But now we never step out of the house after 10pm as it gives us a spooky feeling."

He added: "The smell of the blood is very strong. Suddenly the kids have started falling sick and are unable to sleep whole night. The cops left the house with blood and did not return after the incident," said the neighbour.

Those taken inside the house by police for verification are now getting nightmares. "First, the police entered the premises and later for panchanama they took a few residents of the village inside. Now, they too are unable to sleep after witnessing the crime scene," said Salim Patel, a resident of Kasarwadavali.
