Spell out dirty water steps: Bombay high court
A division bench of chief justices Mohit Shah and DG Karnik was hearing a PIL filed last year by Siddharth Khandagale and Rajnish Kamble after two pregnant women died in April 2010 due to water borne disease.
When told that there is little change in the situation regarding contamination of water in Mumbai, the Bombay high court today directed BMC to file an affidavit stating steps it would take to provide clean drinking water.

Petitioner’s advocate Rakesh Agrawal told that nothing has been done to improve hygiene of the area. To this, the judges asked BMC to file affidavit stating steps for clean drinking water. Agrawal submitted the report to the court today.
According to the report, there are several violations and the suggestions included water proofing of transit accommodation, immediate cleaning of nullahs, over flowing gutters and removal of debris dumped.
