Noted social reformer Appasaheb Dharmadhikari will be conferred with D Litt(Doctor of Letters) by Dr DY Patil University, Nerul, during the eighth convocation ceremony of the university.

The ceremony will be held on April 4 at Dr DY Patil stadium in Nerul. Around 1,400 students of the university will be given graduation certificates on the occasion.

Dharmadhikari has been successfully carrying out a number of social works under the name of Dr Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari, across the state. He has conducted tree plantations, blood donation camps, free medical camps, job fairs and cleanliness drives among others activities.

"Taking into consideration his social works carried out in the region, we have decided to confer him with an honorary doctorate degree as a token of respect," said an official of the university.

The convocation function will be held in the evening at the stadium where thousand followers of Dharmadhikari are expected to come. The function will be attended by Dr Vijay Patil, founder chairman of DY Patil University, Dr Ajinkya Patil, chairman of the university, PA Sable, vice chancellor of the university, among others.
