According to the Mumbai police, on the basis of the information provided by Rai about the location in Raigad, where the accused trio had dumped Bora's body, a team of policemen on Friday found half a skull and some bones.

"It's an important development for us as it will help us prove that Bora was murdered," said a senior police officer privy to the investigation. "Until now, we had nothing concrete in terms of mortal remains of Bora. Now, with the bones and skull, we will be able to establish a lot of things."

The Mumbai police will be sending the bones and the skull to JJ hospital for carrying out an anatomy of the bones to ascertain the age and sex of the body of which remains were found.

Interestingly, in May 2012, after the Raigad police had recovered a half-burnt body, they had made a diary entry of it and sent samples to JJ hospital for anatomy. "Once the report of the fresh bones found arrives, we will match it with the bones that were sent earlier by the Raigad police. If the two match, then we do have a strong case in hand," said the officer.

"We will also be doing DNA sampling to ascertain if the remains found are Bora's."
