Sketches of murder suspects ready

In the murder case of 65-year-old son of noted writer Amrita Pritam, police have prepared sketches of the two men who allegedly killed Navraj Kwatra on Friday.

According to the MHB police, objectionable material like condoms, pornography and sex-enhancing medicines have been recovered from the deceased’s apartment in Borivli (W), which he used as his photography studio.

At 12pm on Friday, Kwatra’s neighbours found him strangled to death in his apartment and called the police. The neighbours had heard screams for help coming from his apartment, after which they saw two men rush out of the main door. Kwatra was found lying dead on the floor, with his hands and legs tied. “We have prepared the suspects’ sketches based on the description given by the witnesses,” said Mahesh Patil, deputy commissioner of police (zone I).

The police are also recording the statements of women who were in touch with Kwatra for portfolio shoots. “We received information that Kwatra, at times, misbehaved with women,” said a senior police officer.

The police are now talking to everyone who knew Kwatra to find out if he had any enemies, and are also trying to find out the source of his income, as he pursued photography just as a hobby.
