Maharashtra: Silvassa man demands body massage from housewife, lands in jail

A 24-year-old Silvassa resident dialled the wrong number for an escort service in Thane and allegedly demanded a body massage from a housewife. The man continued to harass her from different numbers and was finally nabbed by the Kopri police.

Ankaj Pandey, 24, an employee of a private firm in Silvassa, Gujarat made several calls to a 35-year-old woman, a social worker and resident of Kopri. Pandey first made calls seeking body massage services, claiming that the number was of an escort service in Thane. The woman later put him on her block call list as the accused, using a different sim card, continued to harass her.

"Despite telling him that the number is wrong he continued to harass me. I recorded the calls and informed the cops about the incident," said the woman.

"Later he made a few more calls and asked him to meet me at 12 Bungalows in Kopri, and laid a trap with the police officials and fellow women activists," said the woman.

"After nabbing the accused, we found a cellphone on which my number was recorded leading to his arrest," she said.

"We have arrested the accused under sections 354(D)(Stalking), 507(criminal intimidation through anonymous communication) and 509 (words, act and gesture intent to outrage modesty of woman) of the Indian Penal Code," said AK Gopal, investigation officer, Kopri police station.
