MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government on Wednesday submitted intelligence reports to the Bombay High Court on the 'threat perception' to the famous Siddhivinayak temple here.

The court is dealing with a PIL filed by Vinod Desai and residents of the area, who objected to the security wall built by temple trust to thwart Akshardham-like terrorist attacks on the temple.

The court had sought intelligence agencies' report regarding the threat perception.

On Wednesday, after receiving the reports, a division bench of justices J N Patel and Nishita Mhatre asked whether the agencies had reviewed the situation after the wall was built, and whether they were satisfied with it.

"Is their a zero threat now?" the judges asked.

However, Advocate General Ravi Kadam evaded the question saying "it is there in the report".

Though Kadam did not say whether agencies found the wall to be an adequate measure, he said agencies had reviewed the security arrangements in July, after the wall was built.

Kadam also said that if in future the threat fades away, the wall can be removed.

The petitioners have challenged the construction of the wall saying it blocks three roads around the temple, causing great inconvenience.

The Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai had, earlier this year, passed a resolution approving blocking of roads.

The petitioners now want to challenge the procedure adopted for passing this resolution. The matter has been listed for final hearing in second week of January.
