Separate counters for women at RTOs soon

Soon, women going to regional transport offices in the state will have separate counters to get their work done.

Minister for transport Diwakar Raote on Tuesday said, "A decision on this was taken in a meeting held on January 31."

As per the decision, at all the RTOs, the counters for driving licences will be reserved for women between 2pm and 3pm daily.

This arrangement is likely to be in place from later this week, added Raote.

Talking about the other plans by the transport ministry, he said a decision has been taken to approach the police administration for security cover outside state transport bus depots to weed out travel agents, touts, etc.
