Senior Citizen sensitises people to vote by writing messages on Black Board

Seventy-six-year-old Sharad Kumar Mehta, a resident of Runwal Estate, has proved that age is no bar to take up any cause for the welfare of the society. He has now taken up up the cause of sensitising people to vote in the upcoming elections.
Mehta is a retired school principal and a recipient of the Maharashtra Rajya Aadarsha Shikshak Puraskar. Being a teacher, he knows well the value of imparting good thoughts. He has formed a senior citizen club in Runwal Estate that boasts of having 200 senior citizens as members. He devised an excellent method of communicating his thoughts by writing regularly on the blackboard, placed prominently near the entrance of the society. In his impressive handwriting, he writes down several good thoughts and the upcoming elections have been keeping him busy lately. Ahead of the voting, Mehta has been writing down the importance of voting.
He says "People lead a very busy life these days and tend to forget many important things in life, too. By writing down my thoughts on this blackboard, I intend to keep reminding them of many things, including the election dates and why they must exercise their right to vote."
Mehta also keeps a track of the birthdays and anniversaries of the residents and makes it a point to greet them and make their day special.
"It's an interesting way to keep myself engaged as well as lead a meaningful retired life. My quotes vary, depending on the occasion. Presently though, my thoughts are all about elections."
"People treat the voting day as any other day, but it is a special day when we exercise our right. On this day we vote to bring someone to power and expect returns from them. If we are casual in our attitude towards voting, nobody will care for us. Hence, we should make it a point to cast our vote to make the difference," says another senior resident."
Mehta adds, "The legible handwriting is proving to be a gift. Now I am using it to convey my thoughts and sensitise people."
