Shiv Sena and its political rival Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) are vying with each other to celebrate the 'Marathi Bhasha Din' tomorrow.The two parties are organising various programmes to celebrate the day, which is the birth anniversary of legendary Marathi poet VV Shirwadkar, popularly known as Kusumagraj.Shiv Sena has organised staging of famous Marathi play Vichha Mazi Puri Kara at Ravindra Natya Mandir in Prabhadevi in the presence of the party's executive president, Uddhav Thackeray. He would later address the party workers.Aditya, grandson of Sena chief Bal Thackeray and head of Yuva Sena, has organised a Marathi band competition at Parel.MNS MLA Nitin Sardesai would be holding a discussion on growth of Marathi. "We will also be gifting Marathi books to schools to promote the language," he said.A 'Granth Dindi' (procession of books) has been organised by Raj Thackeray-led MNS activist Shirish Parkar in suburban Vile Parle.Both parties have asked their activists to conduct a series of programmes like essay, elocution and drawing competitions for children and cultural programmes in every ward of the city to mark the day.
