MUMBAI: The court has directed Bollywood actor Salman Khan to remain present on May 4 in the Metropolitan Magistrate Court here which is conducting trials into the September 2002 hit-and-run case in which the actor stands accused.

On last occasion, the trial proceedings had to be adjourned as witnesses in the case did not remain present for recording their evidences.

Salman Khan hadd allegedly rammed his vehicle into a bakery on September 28, 2002 at Pali Hill road, Bandra. One person was killed and four others were injured in the mishap.

Initially, Salman Khan was booked under 304 (a) of the Indian Penal Code for negligent driving.

But, later, the prosecution had moved the court for an alteration of the charges. The charges were, subsequently, modified and the trials into the case had commenced in Metropolitan Court at Bandra.
