So, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will spend Rs20 lakh to replace them. The BMC had spent Rs2 crore to repair the bungalow just four years ago.

Jadhav has appointed interior designer Durgesh Pendurkar to change the look of the bungalow. “There is need for repairs in the bungalow. A room on the first floor is leaking and the slab of another has come out. These repairs are urgently needed,” Jadhav told DNA.

“The curtains are rotting and have become worn out. They also don’t match the bungalow anymore.”

When Dr Shubha Raul became mayor in 2007, she spent Rs16 lakh on new furniture in the conference hall and the ante-chamber of the bungalow as well as on a solar lighting system.

During mayor Datta Salvi’s tenure between 2005 and 2007, Rs2 crore was spent on renovation. The bungalow was again repaired for Rs18 lakh. The mayor’s bungalow, a heritage structure, is over 80 years old.
