RPF appoints ASC to conduct inquiry in fake bail bond case

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) have appointed an assistant security commissioner (ASC) to conduct the inquiry of 21 suspended RPF personnel who allegedly involved in the fake railway bail bond."ASC (Wadi Bunder sub division) Rakesh Bargava will personally conduct the inquiry of each RPF personnel involved in the racket and record their statements," said a top RPF officer on the condition of anonymity and added that Bargava will finish his enquiry by June end and submit the report to the top RPF officials who will then take action accordingly.The RPF suspended 21 personnel including one inspector, one sub inspector and three assistant sub inspectors from service in March 2012 for their alleged involvement in the fake bail bond scam.Railway activist Samir Zaveri last year filed public interest litigation (PIL) in High Court, alleging a group of RPF personnel posted at Kurla railway station in 2008-09, had extorted money from commuters caught for violating railway norms, by posing as magistrates and issuing fake cash bail bonds.Zaveri further alleged that a head constable acted as a magistrate and granted bail to the offenders and the money collected was misappropriated by the RPF personnel. The RPF personnel allegedly asked the offenders to pay Rs500 bail bonds each in the fake courts staged by them, sources said.
