The e-commerce website of Future Bazaar was hacked into by unidentified persons on Tuesday. The website, www.futurebazaar.com, has been down for over 48 hours as top experts have been unable to fix it.
Rajeev Prakash, CEO, futurebazaar.com, said: “According to experts working on fixing the problem, the attackers logged in several lakh times, flooding the website with login requests and leading to denial of service.”
He added: “People are trying to place orders over phone lines. But they cannot view details about the products offered.” Company officials received an anonymous email three days ago, warning of an attack.
Officials of the BKC cyber police station have begun investigations. A senior police officer said: “The initial probe shows the attack was launched from multiple servers traced to countries in Eastern Europe and South East Asia.” Police officials suspect the attack was launched by professional hackers hired by rivals or competitors, who wanted to harm the website’s business.
