The RFID system helped constables respond quickly, reach the area on time and nab two teenagers who killed a 68-year-old resident of Malad (W), Jahn Cardozo, on Wednesday.

“One RFID device was installed in Lourde’s Colony and at the time of the incident, two constables were on patrol duty and were going to scan their cellphone at the RFID,” said Patil.

When the police received a call about the murder, the constables rushed to the spot and forced 18-year-olds Yogesh Saroj and Suraj Kanaujia to surrender at gunpoint.

The main accused, Allwyn Fernandes, is still at large. Several teams are involved in the manhunt.
