Avinash Dattaram Dethe, who was attached to Sagari police station, had retired on December 31 last year. Soon after retirement, he had applied for a licence to keep a weapon. But he is still waiting for a reply.

In his application, Dethe had said, “If Pravin Mahajan can get a weapon license even after killing his brother, then why can’t I be allowed a weapon licence.”

Dethe alleged that he was facing threat to his life from Mustafa Dossa and his men. Dethe said he was threatened by Dossa while he was posted at the Local Arms Unit of the Mumbai Police.
