Local corporator Archana Bhalerao of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, who was present at the Sai Siddhi building collapse site said that neither she nor the BMC ward office had received any complaints about the illegal construction work in the building.

“The process making major changes in the structure of a residential building includes writing a letter to the BMC’s ward office and corporator. But we were not informed about it. “When the residents found out about the illegal renovation, they mutually decided to file a written complaint the next day. However, before they could do so the building collapsed,” Bhalerao said.
