The Crime Branch on Tuesday stated that they had received the postmortem report, which does not mention any sexual assault on Shetye. "We have received the detailed postmortem report and sexual assault on Shetye has been ruled out," confirmed a senio'r official.

"The postmortem report confirmed injuries but not on Shetye's private parts. Samples have been sent for chemical analysis," said JJ Hospital Dean TP Lahane.

Meanwhile, the Bombay High Court's former Justice Anand Nirgude was announced as the Special Investigation Team's head to probe the case further. State's former Director General of Police Pravin Dixit and social worker Anjali Deshpande will be the other two members of the SIT.

The SIT will not only investigate Shetye's death but will also look into the jail facilities available for inmates such as infrastructure, food, health and safety. No deadline has been put in place as yet for the SIT to submit its report.
