He was participating in a debate on the Constitution Amendment Bill to rename Orissa as Odisha.

Raut said that Bombay was renamed as Mumbai but the names of many institutions, like the high court, were not changed. Under British rule, there was a Bombay Province that stretched from Karachi to Goa, and so the high court was called the Bombay high court. But now it needs to be renamed as Maharashtra high court, he demanded.

Raut also took objection to an article in the Constitution that says “India ie Bharat”. It should be “Bharat ie India”, he added.
