Realtors to host blood donation drive at CSMT

South Metrocity Association of Realtors (SMART), a south Mumbai-based body of real estate agents is organising a day-long blood donation camp on January 30. This is the first time that a body of real estate brokers is organising such a camp. The event will be held at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) between platform number 7 and 8.

The body is conducting this camp in association with Mumbai Central-based, civic-run Nair Hospital's Nair Blood Bank. Senior railway officials, including the divisional railway manager and others, are expected to attend the event as well. The real estate body aims to collect nearly 150 bottles of blood that will be then handed over to Nair Hospital's blood bank.

Speaking about the event, Jatin Shah, secretary, SMART said, "It is part of our Corporate Social Responsibility activity. We as an association of realtors are doing it for the first time and we intend to collect 150 bottles of blood. The blood donation drive is happening jointly with Nair Blood Bank."

January 30 is Martyrs' Day which marks the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi in 1948. The association chose this day in order to connect their campaign with the day's significance and the drive.

Another realtor said, "Normally realtors aren't seen as giving anything back to the society. We are called brokers, who broker a deal. This way we will be letting the society know that brokers also give back to the society and not just take their cut whenever a deal takes place."
