LONDON: Mumbai is the world’s rudest city, according to a Reader’s Digest survey. The study, which administered three courtesy tests, concentrated on the main cities of 35 countries where the magazine is published.

The first test was dropping papers in a street to ascertain helpfulness. The second, a count of shop assistants’ ‘thank you’ responses. The third, how often someone held a door open for others.

While Mumbai came last in the tests, seven of the 10 lowest-scoring cities were Asian.
