R&DE(E) felicitates former chief

Research & Development Establishment (Engineers) R&DE (E), a city-based defence research and development organisation (DRDO) unit, felicitated its former director Madhukar Joshi as a part of the ongoing golden jubilee celebrations on Friday.

Joshi was felicitated by S Guruprasad, director of R&DE (E) during a one-day symposium on ‘emergency bridging’ which was held as a part of the celebrations. Former vice-chief of army, Lt Gen (retd) Noble Thamburaj, was the chief guest. Joshi headed R&DE(E) from 1989 to 1999.

A press statement from R&DE (E) stated that Joshi was an expert in military bridging and had contributed significantly in introducing several bridging systems such as CI-3 fixed bridge, BLT-T72 assault bridge, and Sarvatra multi-span bridging system.

A coffee-table book authored by Joshi, Driving technology frontiers-fifty years of R&DE (E), was released.

HEMRL observes Hindi Day
The High Energy Materials Research Laboratory (HEMRL), a defence research and development organisation (DRDO) laboratory, celebrated Hindi Day on September 14. Its director A Subhananda Rao said, “We scientists should attempt to write our research papers in Hindi, so that it can reach as many people as possible.’’

The occasion also saw the release of the 26th edition of HEMRL’s Hindi newsletter, Navchetna, and felicitation of 110 employees of HEMRL, who participated in Hindi competitions.
