The Cyber police have arrested a man from Rajasthan who posed as Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel to cheat people online. The accused used to lure CISF personnel by offering them deals at a very low price and acquire their CISF identity cards as proof. Then he used to pose as a CISF personnel to establish trust and dupe people.

According to police, the arrested identified as Saikat Asin Amin (22) and his accomplices used to forge the identity cards of the CISF personnel and pose as one to post advertisements on an online used-good marketplace. After striking deals with prospective customers and taking money in advance for the items, they never delivered the products to the latter.

Using this modus operandi, the accused and his accomplices had duped at least 25-30 people across the country. Soon, the victims began writing to the CISF officials claiming their employees were cheating people. When the CISF learnt of the crime, they approached cyber police and registered a complaint. "Since the people have trust in the CISF personnel, they tend to trust them blindly," said a cop.

The cyber police then formed a team and tracked the activity to a remote village in Rajasthan. A team was sent to Rajasthan, where they teamed up with the local police and laid a trap to nab the accused. When police reached Amin's residence to arrest him, his family began pelting stones on the police force. After a brief scuffle, police arrested Amin on Sunday evening and brought him to the city on Monday night.

Amin and his accomplices were booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act for cheating, forgery and impersonation. Police are investigating the matter and are on the lookout for Amin's partners in crime.
