The party’s decision to field Narvekar as the candidate has come as a surprise to many, as it was expected that the party will choose a senior leader. Arvind Sawant and Vinayak Raut were in the race for the ticket. However, the party leadership kept its decision under wraps till the last day for filing nominations to avoid any kind of trouble.

“I have been working in the party for the past 15 years. I feel I deserve what I have got,” said Narvekar.

“My only aim is to win the seat at any cost. We will not let this seat go to the NCP. This is the battle between an honest man and a traitor,” he added.
