The Shri Krishna Charitable Foundation of Nigdi will organise ‘Shree Radha-Madhav Vivah Mahotsav’ at Shri Krishna Temple situated on the Mumbai-Pune Highway, Nigdi, on Wednesday.

It is one of the sixteen sanskars (rites) performed according to the Hindu religion.

The ceremony of Radha-Mohan marriage performed during the mahotsav marks the beginning of the wedding season.

Speaking to DNA, the foundation’s KM Pillai said, “People gather in large numbers to celebrate the event that is being organised for the past 22 years in January.”

Various programmes like bhajans, Jayadev’s Ashtapadi, divyanam and dhol utsav were held on Tuesday, and other rituals will be organised between 9am and 2pm on Wednesday.

Artistes will present the Radha-Krishna raaslila and a procession of Krishna’s idol will also take place near the temple premises on Wednesday.
