Tinksingh Kishan Singh, 35, was arrested under sections 306 (abetment to suicide), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code. He was produced before a court on Sunday and remanded in police custody till February 27.Why was Singh arrested?Bharti Kartik Pal, 25, and her brother Somnath, 20, both of whom had been staying and working as domestic help at Singh's house for several years, were on Friday found hanging in his Oshiwara apartment. Singh had allegedly been molesting Bharti and would beat up, harass and threaten Somnath. It was he who discovered the bodies and called up the police. A day later, the police found the bodies of the mother Shikha, 45, and her 50-year-old employer Manoj Patel with whom she was in a live-in relationship, hanging in his house on Saturday. Cops believe the four suicides occurred on Friday itself."A total of three video suicide notes recorded in their phones and another, written one were found," said a police officer. What led the police to believe it was a suicide pact? The police also recovered shrouds and other funerary materials from the two flats where the bodies were found. "It was a suicide pact. We believe the deceased bought these materials before taking the extreme step. We recovered the suicide note and videos from Patel's home. We believe the siblings had visited their mother a few hours before and told her about the decision and kept the suicide note there," said senior police inspector Subhash Vele of Oshiwara police. What did the suicide notes say?"Bharti's suicide note revealed that she was being molested by Singh and he was forcing her to marry him. According to her brother's audio suicide note, he took the extreme step as he was constantly beaten up by Singh," said another police officer.Shikha's note revealed that she took the extreme step as her children had decided to commit suicide. Patel, for his part, was depressed about his deteriorating health: he had high blood pressure and diabetes. A police officer said, "We have contacted Patel's brother who lives abroad for more details on his background."The accused, Singh, worked in the film industry and Shikha had been working as his domestic help for over 15 years. Recently, she went to live with Patel, while her children continued to work and live at Singh's house.
