The famous Bhikardas Maruti Mandir in Sadashiv Peth is all set to celebrate Hanuman Jayanti on April 18 with traditional devotion.Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated in the month of Chaitra to mark the birth of Hanuman, the Vanara god, widely venerated throughout India, especially in North India. The head priest of Bhikardas Maruti Mandir, Amrut Dave said, “The first puja of the day will be held at 5 am, since Hanuman was born at sunrise.” The programmes at Bhikardas Maruti Mandir will begin at 5 am with the Shreeinchi aarti, which is a 15-minute long prayer ritual. Kirtan will be held for an hour thereafter.A bhajan programme by Swarshree Bhajan Mandal has been scheduled for devotees between 2pm and 4pm. The celebrations, to be extended till April 19, will conclude with the distribution of mahaprasad at the Narad Temple, between noon and 3pm. The temple will be open for devotees from 5am till midnight.In Maharashtra, Hanuman Jayanti is celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu lunar month of Chaitra. Hanuman temples mark the day with spiritual discourses beginning at dawn.
