Addressing media persons in the city on Monday, Dr Milind Darda, a specialist in orthodontics and founder of Pune Orthodontic Study Group (POSG) said, “Orthodontists are dentists who specialise in fitting braces. Even a regular dentist has to call us to fit braces. “That’s because deciding on the kind of braces depends on factors like age, bone conditions as well as deciding the period for which it is kept.’’

According to him, the biggest challenge is to make people aware that orthodontic treatment could be availed by people of any age.

This year POSG plans to hold free camps in their clinics as well as distributing pamphlets to raise awareness.
