Pune district collectorate employees withdraw strike
Vikas Deshmukh wrote to the additional collector to investigate the incident wherein Shivajinagar MLA, Vinayak Nimhan allegedly abused and threatened Pune city tehsildar.
The indefinite strike of the employees of the Pune district collectorate was called off on Tuesday evening. This followed a written order from the district collector, Vikas Deshmukh to the additional collector, Ganesh Patil to investigate the incident wherein Shivajinagar MLA, Vinayak Nimhan allegedly abused and threatened Pune city tehsildar, Sachin Giri.
The employees of the Pune district collectorate had gone on a flash strike on Monday in protest against the incident on December 30. In response to the strike, Nimhan had come to the collectorate with his men and had derided the officers.
Deshmukh, while speaking to the media on Tuesday, said the strike was called off after his meetings with the employees. “I had reasoned that the common man would be in trouble because of the strike and thus the employees agreed to call off their strike,” he said.
He said a special inquiry has been ordered. Nimhan had alleged that Giri had failed to sign the various certificates brought to his office. “Patil will investigate the allegations made by Nimhan and the alleged threats made by him to Giri. The report would be submitted in about two days’ time,” he said.
