The Vishrantwadi police on Tuesday lodged a first information report against Prakash, the husband of Seema Lanke (32).
The Vishrantwadi police on Tuesday lodged a first information report (FIR) against Prakash alias Nanabhau, the husband of Seema Lanke (32), his first wife and 12-year-old son.
DNA took the initiative in the case and highlighted her plight in its December 21 edition, after which the police lodged the FIR.
The deputy commissioner of police (zone IV), Sanjay Jadhav, confirmed to DNA that the FIR has been registered against the suspects. “We will arrest the suspect. The nature of injuries is simple as per the hospital’s report. The attempt to murder clause cannot be applied in the case,” Jadhav added.
Seema told DNA that she visited the police station on Tuesday at about 1 pm. “The police initially asked me to come on Wednesday to register a complaint, claiming that the officer concerned was not present,” she said.
Later, on intervention of this newspaper, Jadhav directed the police officials to register the FIR. According to the police, the suspects allegedly caused hurt, wrongful confinement, breach of trust, bigamy, breach of peace, use of vulgar language and criminal intimidation.
The victim was allegedly beaten up by her husband and injuries inflicted with sharp weapons even on her private parts, which was confirmed during a medical
examination at the Sassoon General Hospital.
The woman, a resident of Kolwadi in Haveli, filed a complaint against Prakash with Lonikand police on September 13 and then again on December 16 with the Vishrantwadi police. But the police did not register the FIR for reasons best known
to them.
The victim mentioned in her complaint that her life is under threat from her husband and his first wife. She alleged that her husband hid the fact that he was married to another woman, Deepali, who actively supported Prakash in his misdeeds against Seema.
