A college student was killed and a two-wheeler rider injured in two separate mishaps in city, involving school buses carrying students.

A bus of St Helena’s School, carrying students to school on Wednesday morning, hit Ruchita Balwalli (21) of Aundh.

The student of Sinhgad College was on her way to the college.She was rushed to a hospital where she succumbed to injuries.

A case was filed by the victim’s father, Ashwinikumar, at the Chatuhshrungi police station against the bus driver Mahendrasingh Barar (62) of Kondhwa.

Police sub inspector, AN Narute, said the bus driver was arrested on Thursday.

In the other incident, a school bus of Chinchwad-based Abhishek Vidyalayam carrying 30 students hit a motorcyclist in Yamunanagar on Thursday evening. The bus driver, Vikas Jagannath Mali, was driving in an inebriated condition, and arrested by traffic police constable Anil Dhore.

The victim received minor injuries. The school chairman, Gurudas Charantimath, said action will be taken against the erring driver after investigation.
