The city’s first butterfly garden, in Sahakarnagar, was inaugurated by noted actor Dimple Kapadia on Tuesday.

Located in Parvati industrial estate ward of the Pune Municipal Corporation, the garden has been constructed on a nala and features enclosures for butterflies, a display room with pictures of butterfly species and informative posters along the walking track.

There is a nominal entry fee of Re1 on weekdays and Rs5 on weekends. The garden will be open from 6 am to 6 pm on weekdays. The son et lumiere (sound and light show) on butterflies will be presented on weekends from 7 pm to 10 pm.

In a brief speech in Marathi, Dimple appreciated Congress corporator Aba Bagul’s initiative and said she is immensely fond of nature. State forest minister Patangrao Kadam, mayor Mohansingh Rajpal and Bagul were among those present.
