Traffic on the Western Express Highway was halted for a brief period during a rasta roko agitation by people affected due to the proposed flyover over the Milan sub-way in suburban Mumbai.The residents of Jambulkaka Wadi in Vile Parle East affected by the flyover project complained that alternate accommodation has been made for the 70 commercial establishments in Kandivali, but 160 houses are yet to be accommodated.Local MLA Krishna Hegde said that both he and MP Priya Dutt have suggested the service road adjoining the highway be differed from the flyover project."So that 80 houses can be accommodated on the spot and 80 can be shifted to houses available for project affected people in the vicinity. The families don't want to go to Oshiwara since the education of their children will be affected," he added.He said MMRDA additional commissioner Ashwini Bhide had assured to speak to the chief secretary Ratnakar Gaikwad in this regard.
