He also produced a post-mortem report of Qatil Siddiqui, who was murdered in Yerawada jail in Pune, to support his claim. The report had concluded that Siddiqui had consumed liquor prior to his death. Tawde had earlier alleged that actor Sanjay Dutt was being provided with beer every afternoon and Bacardi rum in the night in the same jail. He repeated the allegation again on Tuesday.

“It is my information that Sanjay Dutt gets beer in the afternoon and Bacardi rum in the evening in the jail. Dutt was released on furlough before Diwali and now he has been released on parole before the New Year celebrations,” Tawde said.

The Opposition leader went on to add: “Though he has been given parole to attend his ailing wife, newspapers have published her photographs attending a movie premier and parties. The home minister should also order an inquiry to find out who is providing liquor to Dutt in Yerawada jail.”

He also alleged that a senior Union minister ensured that Dutt gets all facilities in the jail. Though Tawde admitted that he had not been able to provide any documentary evidence to support his claim, he dared the home minister to deny availability of liquor in jails.

Indian Mujahideen operative and associate of Yasin Bhatkal, Qatil Siddiqui was arrested by the Delhi Police in 2011 and later the Maharashtra ATS took his custody in connection with the failed attempt to plant a bomb near the Dagdusheth Ganapati temple. In June 2012, Siddiqui was killed by two other inmates, Alok Bhalerao and Sharad Mohol, inside the Yerawada jail.
