MADHUBANI (Bihar): The powder seized from one of the accused of the 7/11 serial blasts in Mumbai was RDX, police said on Sunday.

After the confirmation that the powder seized from the house of Kamal Ansari on the night of July 18 was RDX, the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Mumbai has registered a case under the Explosives Act against him and forwarded the information to the Superintendent of Police, sources said.

Sources said an FIR was registered against Ansari on the basis of the statement of police inspector Yogesh Chaudhary on Saturday.

A joint team of ATS officials, Intelligence Bureau and Bihar police had seized about 500 gm of powdery substance from the house of Ansari in Basopatti bazaar, which his family had claimed was cement.

However, the forensic science laboratory confirmed that it was RDX mixed with charcoal.
