A young Polish tourist was threatened with a knife, assaulted and robbed by two unidentified men as she stepped out of Ahmedabad railway station early on Thursday.
The woman, Pitrycja Korzec, was on her way back from Rajasthan along with a friend, when they stopped at Ahmedabad to change trains. They were on the platform, when the 25-year-old decided to look for something to eat and she walked out of the station.
According to Korzec's complaint, filed with the Malabar Hill police after they arrived in Mumbai, two men approached her on the road outside and demanded money. When she did not heed their demand, one of them pulled out a knife, hit her on the head with the handle of the weapon, snatched her bag containing Rs1.71 lakh and valuables and fled, said Shrirang Nadgauda, senior police inspector.
The woman, who is employed as a nurse in the UK, suffered minor injuries. The friends decided to proceed to Mumbai. Malabar Hill police have transferred the matter to the Kalupur police in Ahmedabad.
