Sai Siddhi Housing Society at the Damodar Park in Ghatkopar was built in the year 1983 and was not in a dilapidated condition as claimed by the accused's lawyer in the court. However, to avail the information on paper, the police are going to take help of several institutions.
According to the police, apart from the FSL report, they will be taking the help of Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IITB) and Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). While the few equipment used by the contractors would be sent to IITB to ascertain what kind of construction the accused were carrying out, the police will be seeking reports from IMD to verify the weather condition of the day when the building collapsed.
"We have recovered the propping from the debris of the building that was used as support while and after tampering the pillars. The IITB will give us an idea about where such propping is used, why it was used, and how the building collapsed even after providing support," said a police officer privy to the investigation.
"We will also be writing to the IMD to understand the weather condition on the day of the collapse. These reports will clarify if there was any other reason behind the collapse other than tampering the pillars," he said.
