Police arrest NCP candidate in Pune

Udaykant Ranoji Andekar (38), the candidate of the Nationalist Congress Party contesting the Pune civic election from Doke Talim panel, was arrested along with four others as a precautionary measure on Monday.
A judicial magistrate (first class) dismissed the application of the police for judicial custody of the suspects. Andekar was released. Senior inspector Sanjay Bhambure said, “Udaykant, who has a criminal past, was arrested by Samarth police along with his brother Suryakant alias Bandu, Suryakant’s son-in-law Ganesh Komkar (30), Alim Shaikh (35) and Rahul Ketare (22).” He said they were held on being found loitering suspiciously in Rasta Peth.
