Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Mukta Tilak criticised the budget for being overtly ambitious. She claimed that the administration will not have enough time to even finish the paper works necessary for issuing tenders for the projects.

Corporators also stated that the overall development of the city has not been considered. They said the budget was myopic by limiting to only cleaning rain water in gutters.

The leader of opposition, Aba Bagul, came down heavily on the administration for not doing enough to implement all the budget proposals. “Most of the schemes in the previous budgets are still unimplemented, thanks to the lackadaisical attitude of the administration. We should look into this first, before proposing newer schemes,” he said.

The proposal to procure 25 air-conditioned buses, especially for IT professionals, was criticised by BJP’s Medha Kulkarni, who felt it was a needless expense.

Muralidhar Mohol, on the other hand, gave thumbs up to the budget, but wondered if the administration was capable enough of realising them.

Peeved at what he called total exclusion of his ward from the civic budget, the corporator from Ved Bhawan, Rajabhau Gorde, threatened to go to the high court in protest.
